Keeping track of all thirteen Primes has been a season long struggle and it’s only more confusing since a host dying does not necessarily mean their final end. Throw in some time travel mumbo jumbo and the sphere gets its origin.

Gabriel made it clear Octavia was the only one to enter the anomaly so there’s a good chance this mystery man who supposedly has Diyoza was someone who originally entered the anomaly. Octavia: Be brave, and tell him it’s done. The anomaly is a loud one and it was difficult to catch what everyone was saying towards the end. As Gabriel suggested in the finale, Octavia likely spent a much longer time in the anomaly and is the reason why she recognizes Hope in the tent.

After mere seconds, Octavia returns with a cured arm and no recollection of what happened. After a failed attempt at a cure and realizing the anomaly was calling her, Octavia entered the anomaly alongside Diyoza. When Octavia’s arm was exposed to the temporal flare in a previous episode, it began to wither and grow old. Time travel seems to be the more obvious answer. At first it might seem another group of humans somehow made their way to Sanctum even further back, but the appearance of Hope and events from earlier in the season suggest otherwise. This means the creators of the sphere could not have been anyone from the Eligius Corporation as the first settlers arrived around 250 years prior. Gabriel describes the sphere as being thousands of years old. The two whisper a few things here and there, Octavia is stabbed in the back, she vanishes into a cloud of green smoke, and an unconscious Hope is left behind as the anomaly passes through. Now back in the tent, Hope, Diyoza’s fully grown daughter, comes in from the green light outside and goes for a hug with Octavia. Using the red symbols on Octavia’s newly found tattoo as a code, Gabriel is able to activate the sphere, causing the anomaly to expand. There they find a floating metallic sphere with spiral designs and the same type of pattern found on Octavia’s tattoo inscribed on its outside. After all the fighting, Bellamy, Octavia, Echo, and Gabriel take a field trip to Gabriel’s outpost where he reveals a secret hatch and underground cave. During the fight in Sanctum, Gabriel notices a pattern of symbols and letters on Octavia’s back after she is caught on fire and forced to remove her burning jacket. Let’s jump right into the craziest aspect of the finale and the final moments of the season.
